This extremely elegant and completely renovated Bergerie has views of the hills and a private swimming pool. It is situated inland, in the middle of Provence, close to the lively, arts and crafts village of Bargeman, a half hour away form the coast. The villa is built in original, Provencal style and has a fabulous garden and a romantic charm and ambience often missing in modern properties. The house is suitable for 8-10 people.

Within

This large, 210m² Bergerie has recently been furnished by the owners, with great feeling for colour and style. You enter into a hall with stairs leading up to the 1st floor. On the right hand side is a cosy kitchen with sliding doors leading outside, a dining table which seats 8 and all the modern apparatus you would expect, including dishwasher, fridge/freezer and oven and microwave. You will find a washing machine, iron and ironing board in the utility room. The large living room has an open hearth and a comfortable sitting area with beamed ceiling. There is satellite TV with Dutch channels (Dutch TV features many English programs with Dutch sub-titles), DVD and stereo with CD-player. Sliding doors open onto a large, intimate terrace with dining table, which is covered and has plenty of shade. The hall, which also has a toilet, leads to the master bedroom with a double bed, en-suite bathroom with bath, toilet and sink and sliding doors onto the terrace.

There are 2 more bedrooms with double beds on the 1st floor (1 is an open mezzanine), and a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet.

The 2nd floor has a separate studio for 2-4 people with its own entrance. This charming room is 50m² and consists of a bedroom for 2 and a little hall with a toilet on one side and on the other a bathroom and an area with a good sofa bed and some kitchen facilities, such as microwave and fridge, which cannot be counted as a proper kitchen.

A cot and high chair are available. Pets may be permitted on request. In the winter an extra supplement will be charged for central heating.

Outside

This charming Bergerie has an inland location just 2 minutes drive away from the Lively arts and crafts village of Bargeman and about a half hour drive from the Cote d’Azur. The 6000m², slightly sloping grounds boast delightful views, lovely terraces and cosy places to sit, and the fabulous gardens have olive trees, oleanders, lavender, scented plants and various fruit trees. The 50m² swimming pool is well placed and there are sun-loungers on the surrounding terrace.

Tips

The picturesque, arts and crafts village of Bargemon is a 2 minute drive away, and has a market every Thursday. Other charming villages in the region include Fayence, Seillans. Tourettes, Mougins and Paul de Vence. You can also visit the Gorges du Verdon, Lac St.Croix or the lavender fields of Grasse. The handsome and charming town of Aix-en-Provence is an hour and a quarter away, with its many terraces and cultural attractions such as architecture, museums, classic and other sorts of music. Around Bargemon there are many hiking paths leading into fabulous countryside.

A half an hour away you will find some well-known golf courses including Taulane at La Bastide, Tauland in La Bastide, designed by Gary Player, and the famous Royal Mougins and St.Andreol at La Motte.

The sandy beaches of the Cote d’Azur are about 35 minutes away. The most recommended are Theoule sur Mer, Les Issambres and St.Maxime. You can catch a boat from St.Maxime to St.Tropez and beat the traffic jams!

There are some lovely restaurants in the area, including Restaurant Bruno in Lorgues for truffle lovers, Gorge dus Pennefort close to Callas and Restaurant Castelleras in Seillans. Les Deux Rocs is a great place for lunch.
