Day Trip 7: Perfume Capital Grasse and Adventure Park

The Pays de Grasse is characterized by a beautiful rolling hilly landscape with chic villa neighborhoods and flower plantations for perfume production everywhere. Since the 17th century, Grasse has been a producer of perfumes and has grown into the world's perfume capital. Around Grasse, there are several beautiful Provençal villages, such as Mouans Sartoux, Auribeau, Le Tignet, or the unknown paradise Cabris. More well-known are the chic villages of Valbonne, Opio, Roquefort-Les-Pins, and Le Rouret. Here you will find many beautiful villas, luxury shops, and very good restaurants.

    Visit the International Perfume Museum

Although more and more flowers are sourced from other countries, Grasse is still filled with the wonderful scent of jasmine. Almost all of the world’s most important “noses” — perfume designers — were trained in Grasse. Visit the International Perfume Museum to learn more about the history of perfume. The three major historic perfume houses — Fragonard, Galimard and Molinard — offer free guided tours, which are well worth attending. A visit to the perfume museum is also an interesting and enjoyable experience for children.

    Lunch at Les Arcades

The area between Cannes, Grasse and Nice is often referred to as the “Golden Triangle.” This is a very affluent region, which means villa prices are high — as is the quality of life. Picturesque, well-preserved old villages such as Valbonne, Opio, Roquefort-les-Pins and Le Rouret are especially popular. The region is also home to excellent restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments such as La Bastide Saint Antoine in Grasse. In Valbonne, Lou Cigalon comes highly recommended, and Les Arcades is another favourite place to dine.

Action at Riviera Nature Parcours Adventure Park

In Grasse, you’ll also find a fun climbing park: Riviera Nature Parcours Adventure. A great outing for both children and adults, a climbing park — also known as an adventure park, accrobranche or rope course — is essentially tree climbing for the more adventurous. High up among the treetops, you’ll climb and scramble over ropes and through nets. In the Provence–Alpes–Côte d’Azur region, there are several of these parks to explore. What makes climbing at Riviera Nature especially memorable is the stunning view of the sea and the surrounding hills.

    For golf enthusiasts

Golfers will find a wide choice of excellent golf courses in the area around Grasse. Nearby are the 18-hole courses of Golf Royal Mougins, Golf de Saint-Donat and Golf Opio Valbonne. Other great options include Valescure, Golf Blue Green de l’Estérel and Golf de Roquebrune. The impressive 36-hole course of Terre Blanche is also located less than 20 km away.
