La Croix-Valmer and surroundings

Plage Gigaro, close to La Croix-Valmer and Cavalaire-sur-Mer, is a favorite spot for southern France insiders. The golden beach on the south side of the presqu'île (Peninsula) de Saint-Tropez is a popular outdoor area.

Beautiful beaches

Azure blue water, impressive vineyards and beautiful beaches with Pins Parasols make this little corner in Southern France an attractive destination. Traditionally, it were the Parisians who put this region on the map. It is customary to spend the day at the beach and in the evening to go out in one of the villages nearby like La Croix-Valmer, Ramatuelle, Gassin or even Saint Tropez. Because of the convenient location of the sea, many villas did not have a private pool. Luckily this is changing rapidly. It was and still is a posh area where older houses are renovated to modern luxury villas.

At Plage Gigaro there are some lovely restaurants on the beach including the 5 * La Pineda Plage with its refined restaurant. Plage restaurant Marius or Jardin Couleur are recommended (and more affordable) alternatives.

La Croix-Valmer

La Croix-Valmer is a smaller village, a few kilometers from the Mediterranean sea. There is a Spar supermarket, a nice Presse, a tourist office, a bakery and good restaurants. Fruits de Mer seems to be the local specialty, given the large range of items on the menus of local restaurants. It is also the setting of fine rose wines. Various wine chateaus offering the opportunity to taste the local wines, such as Domaine de la Croix.

Hiking

There is also plenty of choice for hikers too. There are perfectly signposted hiking trails across the Peninsula and in particular, the paths right along the coast are of exceptional beautiful. A very nice walk is that of Plage Gigaro through Cap Lardier to Plage L'escalet. Another attractive point of staying in the La Croix-Valmer area is its convenient location to Saint Tropez and the beaches at Ramatuelle. Through somewhat tortuous roads you can drive – without traffic jams - to the market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings in Saint Tropez.
