Cavalaire & Hyères
The coast from Cavalaire to Hyères
Between Cavalaire-sur-Mer and Hyères lies one of the most beautiful coastal areas of the Var. Here, wide sandy beaches, hidden coves, fragrant pine forests and charming villages blend seamlessly into one another. It is a region where the Mediterranean is always close by and where Provençal life can still be felt everywhere.
Enjoying nature and the sea
Outdoor living takes centre stage in this region. You will find everything here for a relaxing holiday: walking along the coast, cycling through the green hinterland, strolling through charming seaside towns and enjoying the sun, sea and tranquillity. It is precisely the combination of nature, Mediterranean atmosphere and stylish coastal resorts that makes this area so appealing.
Walking along coves and headlands
For walkers, this coastline is a true paradise. Around La Croix-Valmer and Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, you can walk along rugged headlands, sheltered coves and beautiful viewpoints overlooking the sea. There are also plenty of walking routes in the area around Bormes-les-Mimosas, through the greenery of the Massif des Maures and along some of the most beautiful stretches of coastline.
Gardens by the sea
One of the most remarkable places in this region is Domaine du Rayol. This Mediterranean garden, located directly by the sea, is an oasis of peace and beauty. You can stroll among exotic and Mediterranean plants, always with the azure-blue sea in the background. A visit to this special place is absolutely worthwhile.
Holiday destination Le Lavandou
Le Lavandou is a popular seaside resort with a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. Once a small fishing village, it is now an attractive destination with a lively promenade, excellent restaurants and beautiful beaches. The coastline of Le Lavandou is known for its clear waters and succession of lovely sandy beaches, each with its own character.
Bormes-les-Mimosas
Bormes-les-Mimosas is without doubt one of the most beautiful villages on the coast. Its old centre, with narrow streets, flower-filled façades and picturesque squares, breathes Provençal charm. At the same time, the sea is always within easy reach. It is exactly this combination of authentic village life and a beautiful coastline that makes Bormes-les-Mimosas so special.
Activities in Hyères
Hyères forms a beautiful final highlight of this coastal region. The town has an attractive old centre, palm-lined avenues, markets and excellent restaurants. Hyères is also especially well known as the gateway to the famous Îles d’Or. During a stay in this area, a boat trip to Porquerolles, Port-Cros or Le Levant is almost a must.
