    The route des Crêtes is located on the cliffs of Cap Canaille and connects Cassis with La Ciotat. It is an impressive road along the cliffs of Soubeyrannes. There are several options for parking to walk across the cliffs and enjoy the breathtaking panorama. It is not entirely save; if the wind is strong the road will be closed.

    Château d'If

    The Château d'If is a fortress (later a prison) located on the island of If, the smallest island in the Mediterranean Sea about 1.5 kilometres offshore in the Bay of Marseille. It's open for public and it can be reached by navette (Frioul If Express) from Marseille's old port.

    Cathédrale de la Major

    This Cathedral was built in the period from 1852 to 1896 and located in an area where already since the 5th century churches were built. The first stone was laid by Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte. The remnants of the old churches in Vieille Major are still visible in the vicinity of the new Church. Cathérale de la Major is built in Byzantine style and has the shape of a Latin cross. There are wonderful images and altars. The magnificent dome is really worth a visit!

    Parc Borély

The park is an ideal setting a morning walk, a picnic in the afternoon or to watch a spectacular Mediterranean sunset. The botanical garden E.M. Heckel is part of the park; it consists of three different parts: a French garden, an English garden and the Hippodrome racecourse Marseille Borély.

Go windsurfing, kayaking or snorkeling (everything is for rent) or take a walk along the boulevard. Plages du Prado was (just like many other beaches in Southern France) built in the seventies for the inhabitants of Marseille to give better access to the water. Nowadays, the beaches and adjacent parks are popular among both locals and tourists.

    With the promise of 300 days of sunshine a year, a fine beach may not lack. Thanks to thousands of planted palm trees, Hyères is also known as Hyères-les-Palmes. The Golden Islands of Hyères have beautiful beaches. The Langoustier Beach on the island of Porquerolles, for example, has both black as white coloured sand. Plage d'Argent (also knows as the Silver Island) is located on the same island where you can enjoy light coloured beaches, a clear sea and magnificent views.

    From the Giens peninsula it is possible to go to the beautiful island of Porquerolles by boat! Here you will find white bounty beaches and you can really enjoy the unspoilt nature. For children it is nice to take the boat with transparent soil (only in the summer months).
