This museum of naive art is housed in Château Saint Hélène, the former residence of perfume François Coty. The museum is located in a large park. You will find paintings, sculptures and drawings of painters like Henri Rousseau and Grandma Moses. The giant statues in the garden are made by Frédéric Lanovsky. Closed on Tuesday.

This palace is one of the largest and most luxurious buildings in the region. The palace was built in baroque style in the 17th century for the noble Lascaris-Ventimiglia cousins. It has a large collection (500 pieces) of old instruments. The museum is closed on Tuesday.

Confiserie Florian in Vieux Nice is open every day of the year from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 6:30 pm. You will get a free tour where you can see how to make candy, chocolates and / or jam of flowers and fruit. After the tour you (of course) end up in the confectionery shop where you can taste ... and buy.

A villa built in the early 1900s by the French archaeologist Theodore Reinach and his wife Fanny Kann, a daughter of the Ephrussi family. This family later built villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Cap Ferrat. Villa Kerylos is characterized by mosaic floors, statues, beautiful ceilings and breathtaking views!

It's a whole climb to this basilica, but it's really worth it! From the square to the church you have a beautiful view over Menton. The 16th century baroque church is the most beautiful in the area. If you walk further up you can reach a cemetery with even more beautiful views!

Not something you think about during your vacation, but worth it, this the Menton cemetery. The cemetery is even higher than the Basilique of Menton. The view you have over the city, the sea and coast of Italy at Cap Martin is breathtaking. The graveyard itself with graves of French and foreign notables is also worth the visit.

Feel like a small boat trip? Then take a bateau bus between Monte Carlo and Monaco-Ville for a euro. This solar powered boat offers you beautiful views of Monte Carlo and Monaco-Ville during the crossing. Between 08h00 and 20h00, every boat departs every twenty minutes from both sides of the harbor.

Pavillon de Vendôme is a former hotel (17th century). You can find many portraits of the seventeenth and eighteenth century as well as Provencal furniture. You can sit down on a bench enjoying the view or have a picnic while the kids are playing.

On May 6th, 2015, Caumont Centre d'Art opened its doors: a new fully restored art centre located in the former Hôtel de Caumont. Enjoy the various exhibitions. There is a restaurant/café with a beautiful garden where you can sit down in peace, something you don't expect in the busy centre of Aix.

Located in the former Palais de Malate since 1838 with art by Granet: he donated his entire private collection to his birth city. Enjoy the art Cézanne who had a studio in Aix at the time. A must for those who love the works of Paul Cézanne! In this atelier you will feel the presence of the painter. His famous oil painting Grandes Baigneuses (The Bathers) was created in this bright and impressive atelier.

This bastide was purchased in 1859 by the father of Paul Cézanne. The bastide remained in the family until 1899. During those 40 years, Paul Cézanne has been greatly inspired for his paintings. In the bastide, he painted his first major work: directly on the walls of the main hall on the ground floor. Lovers of Cézanne will really enjoy a visit to this bastide!

This 18th-century square has so much charm! Surrounded by elegant Baroque and rococo buildings, the square was built in 1745 and designed in the style of the Royal squares in Paris for the Marquis d'Albertas. The square features a simple fountain which dates back to 1862. On the South side of the square is the Halle aux Grains (former grain market now post office) with a beautiful façade that was built between 1759 and 1761 and decorated with sculptures by Jean Pancrace Chastel.

This is the famous main street of Aix and one of the liveliest streets of the city. Surrounded by old plane trees the Cours Mirabeau is the heart of the city, with many cafés, restaurants and boutiques. This bustling boulevard is the perfect place for a walk or to enjoy a lunch or coffee. Here you can also find the well-known restaurant Les Deux Garçons. This restaurant has been around since 1792 and honored with many famous customers such as Cézanne, Picasso, Piaf and Camus.

For the best views of Nice and surroundings go to La Colline du Château! After you have taken the stairs (over 200 steps) you have a spectacular view of the old city of Nice, the harbour, the promenade des Anglais and Baie des Anges. You can take the elevator to the top of the Hill. You can also visit an impressive waterfall and a nice park where you can relax or have a picnic.

Thee Provençal market of Apt is known for the lovely atmosphere, originality and durability: this market has existed for five centuries already. You'll find a divers collection of colors and scents, fresh and local seasonal products, offered by friendly market vendors. We recommend you to go early, parking can be difficult, especially later in the morning. You will never forget a walk in Le Colorado Provençal! In this beautiful area you can enjoy walks in pine forests with countless bright yellow and sometimes vermilion red rocks, a beautiful colour contrast! This unique and protected area created by the mining of ochre from late 19th century until the mid 20th century. The ochre mining arose by the excavation of the earth, which resulted in this fascinating 'moon landscape'. There are walking and cycling routes along the most impressive rock formations.

If you're interested in the industrial history of ochre and the change of the landscape of Roussillon, we recommend you to visit Ôkhra. This 'conservatoire' is located in the former ochre factory and is an interesting museum for young and old!

An exciting journey under the ground that show the lives of the people in the Pays d'Apt during the operation of the ochre mines. The museum is open every day from 1 april to 12 november from 10:00 am. During the mine tour the guide will show you the galleries, the workshop of the ochre miners in the years 1850-1950. The tour takes about 50 minutes and is fun and interesting for the whole family!

This is a really nice (and quiet) bay near Saint-Tropez. You can walk along a footpath with fairly steep stairs (plenty of parking space). The bay is well sheltered, quite large and has a beautiful beach. There are rock bulges that are very suitable for snorkeling. There is also a guarded swimming area.

Friendly wine bar where you can taste delicious wines. The home made tapas are also well worth a visit.

The Cours Saleya market is held every day. On Monday, there is a nice antique and flea market, the rest of the week you'll find fruits and vegetables, but also many stalls with flowers. At the end of the afternoon the same square is cleaned and transformed into a large terrace. Whether you have enjoyed the beach, a museuam or have finished shopping, you can finish the day with a snack and a drink in one of the many cosy cafes around Cours Saleya.

Enjoy an evening of music at the Château de Lourmarin and take the opportunity to visit the village, listed as one of the most beautiful in France. This festival is held in the relative intimacy of the château, and also outside on the terraces with classical music concerts and performances by talented and award-winning artists, and other events including jazz and opera. The sea and beaches are always close by. In Nice you will find no less than 7 km of beach with beautiful grey and white pebbles. These are not very comfortable but luckily there are a lot of nice beach bars where you can spend the day!

Would you like to spend a day on the beach near Nice, then drive to Villefranche-sur-Mer (a 7 km drive). The colourful old town has many nice shops, a nice port and there are sandy beaches (on the other side of the port).

If you are wondering how it feels to lay down your towel on the most expensive piece of land in the world, then Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is the place to be. The sea water is all shades of blue and there's a beautiful Bay with a pebble beach (Paloma Beach). About 11 km from Nice.

Plage Beau Rivage is a classic Beach tent with a typical Mediterranean atmosphere; blue-white striped umbrellas and sun beds and nicely set tables. You can sip cocktails, eat tapas and enjoy live music every Friday.

The Sentier du Littoral is a hiking route of more than 200 kilometers along the French coast. You do not have to be a frequent walker to appreciate this beautiful route; Most trips are not heavy and at sea level, so very relaxing. The most beautiful walk we can recommend here is the 3 caps: Cap Lardier, Cap Taillat and Cap Camarat. Especially the path between the Plage de Gigaro (here is the entrance to the hiking area) and Cap Taillat is very varied and offers beautiful views along the coastline. Park your car at the side of the road at the Plage or at a park (paid in the high season) at the end of the Plage (turn left onto the road and 100 meters further to the parking lot). The start of the walk goes up and down along the various bays through a narrow path, sometimes over the rocks across the beach. Just before Pin Blanc, the path rises a bit, but it is not difficult to get it. On top of the Pin Blanc you can go left inland back to the starting point. To follow the Sentier du Littoral, take the narrow road to the right at the junction of the Vieux Semaphore. Each cap offers the ability to return to the starting point via the path inland. The total distance of the walk along the 3 caps is about 10 kilometers. Contact a local Tourism Office for detailed directions. The Palais des Papes in Avignon is now one of France's most visited attractions. The palace in the center of Avignon was built between 1309 and 1377 to accommodate the popes and is beautiful to see.

Every year there is a big theater festival in Avignon in July. Theater and theater performances are presented throughout the street and in theaters. The festival's most popular festival is the grand performance in the courtyard of the Palais des Papes. Nice getaway with the kids!

Of course we all know the song "Sur Le Pont D'Avignon". Today only half a bridge has been preserved, but the view from the famous medieval bridge on Avignon is still as beautiful. You can see the bridge with an audio tour. The entrance tickets are purchased at the bridge on the Boulevard du Rhône.

One of the best things to do in Nice: Cycling !!!! And then of course it is nice to have a good bike. At Holland Bikes, they simply rent out good old-fashioned Dutch bikes: Gazelle's, with or without a basket. For an hour, but also for a day. And you can also book a tour with a Dutch guide. You can also cycle yourself. For example to Villefranche sur Mer (10 km) or Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat (15 km). A lot of "false flat" so good condition required. You can also cycle towards Cannes (flat).
